Leicester City fans think Newcastle should’ve had player sent off for ‘blatant’ action

Leicester City fans believe that Newcastle United were fortunate to be going into half time with 11 players after claiming one player should’ve been sent off.

Newcastle took the lead on the half hour mark after Jacob Murphy’s strike on the edge of the box finished off a nice corner routine.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side struggled to create anything of note as the hosts dominated the proceedings and restricted the Foxes to playing the ball around on the edge of the opposition area.

But despite a mini revival at the end of the first half, some Leicester fans were left baffled after one Newcastle player wasn’t shown red.

Leicester fans think Bruno Guimaraes should’ve been sent off

One player that could say he was lucky to end the game on the pitch is Newcastle captain Bruno Guimarares.

The Brazil international was involved in two key moments in the first half where he thought that he should’ve had a penalty after accusing Jannik Vestergaard of fouling him in the box.

Replays showed however that Vestergaard had made little contact and Guimaraes was instead warned for diving.

Minutes later Guimaraes was involved again as he mistimed a tackle on Stephy Mavididi but only received a yellow card.

Referee Tom Bramall and his VAR team didn’t feel he deserved a red, but several Leicester fans did.

“Shocking that Bruno Guimaraes is still on the pitch,” wrote this fan.

Another said: “Guimaraes lucky to still be on the pitch. No booking for the dive then booked 30 seconds later.”

One Leicester City star must improve after disappointing first half display

It was a first appearance since September for Hamza Choudhury and it was obvious from minute one.

Choudhury looked a yard off the pace in comparison to his teammates, making sloppy decisions and giving the ball away far too easily.

The midfielder has been restricted to a bit-part role with the Foxes this season given the form of the central midfield options ahead of him.

A lack of options on the bench may mean that Ruud van Nistelrooy persists with him, but he must drastically improve.
