Leicester player ratings vs Man United as defensive shambles sees two players score 3/10

Leicester City embarrassingly exited the Carabao Cup as they were hammered by managerless Manchester United.

The Foxes started the brighter of the two sides but were a goal down inside 15 minutes courtesy of a long-range effort from Casemiro.

Alejandro Garnacho doubled the hosts’ lead in the 28th minute before Bilal El Khannouss scored his first goal for Leicester five minutes later with a lovely effort that clipped off the post.

That didn’t last long though as a Bruno Fernandes free kick took a heavy deflection off James Justin as Man United restored their two-goal lead.

Casemiro then got his second of the afternoon before Conor Coady once reduced the deficit to make it 4-2 at the break.

Steve Cooper’s side started the brighter of the two in the second half but Caleb Okoli’s sloppy pass allowed Fernandes to round Danny Ward and make it five.

Here are the full player ratings from tonight’s defeat.

Danny Ward

Couldn’t do much about Casemiro’s first goal and the third goal was an unfortunate deflection but conceding so many goals is never a good look for a goalkeeper.

Mads Hermansen will be back in the side and won’t have to worry about Ward challenging for his place.

3/10

James Justin

A similar tale throughout the season in that Justin struggled and was part of a back four leaking goals for fun.

Looked more lively in the second half and got lots of space on the right-hand side but is still way off what Leicester fans have been used to seeing over the years.

Cooper needs to give the full-back some time out of the first team and allow him to work on his mistakes.

5/10

Conor Coady

Disappointing from one of the most experienced players in the side. Looked lost and couldn’t command any sort of response from his teammates. Exposed far too many times at the back and will struggle to feature for the Foxes any time soon.

Did restore some pride by scoring right on half-time.

5/10

Caleb Okoli

Worst performance in a Leicester shirt. Looked like a shadow of himself in comparison to recent weeks and the backpass for Fernandes’ second summed up his night.

3/10

Luke Thomas

Not good enough for Premier League level and looked so out of his depth. It’s time Leicester cut their losses on the academy graduate because tonight’s performance has proved he’s not reliable enough to be called upon.

4/10

Oliver Skipp

Struggled alongside his midfield partner but didn’t stop running all game. One of the better players on the night and is likely to contribute heavily this season.

5/10

Boubakary Soumare

Drifted in and out of the game and showed glimpses

There is plenty of interest in the Frenchman’s signature and it’s best for everyone that he moves on in January.

5/10

Kasey McAteer

Was bright and always looking to close down the opposition but needs to be better on the ball.

Could probably do with a loan move away in January as the lack of match fitness was evident.

4/10

Bilal El Khannouss

Scored his first goal for the Foxes and although he is still very raw, he is one to watch for the future.

One of the only players who comes out of tonight with some respect after always wanting to get on the ball and make things happen.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid

Has failed to impress in any of his appearances since his summer move. Didn’t offer anything on the pitch and you’d be forgiven for thinking he was even playing.

4/10

Jordan Ayew

Won some free kicks in good areas but was often isolated and couldn’t cause any major problems for the United defence.

5/10
