Leicester City were looking to put an end to a dismal run of form when they hosted Brentford in the Friday evening kick-off.
The Foxes went into the clash knowing that if they wanted to mount a proper survival push, it really needed to start now.
Leicester City lost to Arsenal last weekend, dropping down to 19th place in the Premier League via goal difference as a result.
But with Brentford the, on paper at least, easiest fixture they have had for a couple of weeks, it was time for Ruud van Nistelrooy and co. to finally turn some half-decent displays into a win.
When all was said and done at the King Power Stadium, Leicester were torn apart by Brentford.
Here are five things we learned from the Foxes clash with the Bees on February 21st.

Facundo Buonanotte can’t catch a break under Ruud van Nistelrooy
When he first arrived on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion, Facundo Buonanotte was one of Leicester’s best players.
He started nearly every league game under Steve Cooper but since Van Nistelrooy took over, he has completed 90 minutes just twice in the league and started just three matches.
His talent and ability to create is obvious but after starting on the bench once more against Brentford, it does look as though he will be a fringe player for the remainder of his time at Leicester.

Nothing will fix this Leicester City defence
Leicester were cut open far too easily for the opening goal, as has become a common sight at the King Power this season.
Van Nistelrooy is still yet to keep a clean sheet as Leicester manager and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
A centre-back or two was obviously required in the winter window but as one didn’t arrive, it’s clear there’s very little Ruud and co. can do to stop leaking goals.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will be sacked
Whether or not it was the right call to sack Steve Cooper and appoint Van Nistelrooy will be a topic of debate for months to come between fans.
But what is clear is that there’s really no chance the former Manchester United man lasts the rest of the season.
Brentford was a must-win tie and Leicester were just awful, especially in the opening half an hour.
They now have a horrible run of fixtures that will likely result in more losses and Van Niselrooy getting the sack.

Jamie Vardy was rare bright spark
Perhaps the only positive to take from Leicester’s hammering at the hands of Brentford was Jamie Vardy.
The 38-year-old’s been one of their best players for over a decade and even in this woeful team, he was the rare bright spark.
Vardy cut a frustrated figure across the 90 minutes but still tried his best to rescue what was perhaps Leicester’s worse performance of the season.
It didn’t mean much in the end, but fans will be glad they can always rely on the striker to give his all. It’s just a shame he’s out of contract in the summer.
Leicester City will be relegated
The Foxes are now sat on 17 points from 26 matches and though they are only two points from safety, relegation is inevitable.

They have a torrid run of fixtures on the horizon and if they can’t even look like a half-decent team against Brentford, there’s no chance they will beat the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool.
At least when Leicester do get relegated, they might actually win a game.
