Steve Cooper revealed what he thought would happen at halftime of Leicester City’s sensational win against Southampton.

Leicester came from two goals down to win 3-2 after goals from Facundo Buonanotte, Jamie Vardy, and Jordan Ayew made it back-to-back victories for the Foxes.

This was also the first time Leicester had won away from home in the Premier League this season.

Steve Cooper always believed Leicester City would win

Any Leicester fan would be forgiven for thinking that three points were not possible at half time but for Leicester boss Cooper, a win was never off the cards.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leicester, the Welshman explained his never-say-die attitude.

“I always thought we were in the game,” he said.

“I walked down the tunnel at half-time and genuinely thought this game isn’t over.

“It’s all down to the players though, they’re really embracing this journey.”

Steve Cooper deserves credit for tactical change in Leicester City win

Cooper has come in for plenty of criticism for the way Leicester have played this season, but he certainly deserves praise for the way he managed the win on the south coast.

The bold but brave decision to introduce Abdul Fatawu as a right-back paid off and the tactical change that saw Fatawu and James Justin act as wing-backs was well executed.

Fatawu and Harry Winks both came on in the second half and were both heavily involved in the goals scored.

Had Cooper not brought on the two players, three points were not coming home with Leicester and the pair should be rewarded with starts in the big game at the King Power Stadium next week.

It was another step in the right direction for the 48-year-old, who will now be hoping this feat can be replicated week-in-week-out.
