Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side got a much-needed win on Sunday afternoon, with Leicester beating Tottenham 2-1 on the day.
It looked like it was going to be a familiar story for the Foxes when Richarlison struck in the 33rd minute – which saw Leicester heading into the break losing, again.
But Jamie Vardy replied immediately. His tap-in got Leicester level on the 46th-minute mark and meant he secured his seventh goal of the season. Vardy’s celebration also caused a stir with Tottenham fans.
Then Bilal El Khannous scored just four minutes later. His strike found the bottom corner and sent the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium into a state of shock.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side held out for the duration of the fixture, which meant a vital win which took Leicester out of the relegation zone.
Whilst Vardy and El Khannous were the goalscorers on the day, with Bobby Reid grabbing man of the match with his two assists, praise simply has to be handed out to one Foxes man.
Boubakary Soumare was excellent in Leicester against Tottenham
Leicester had some standout performers against Spurs, and Boubakary Soumare was one of them.
The French midfielder worked tirelessly throughout the fixture, battling against a tough Spurs midfield which included Rodrigo Bentancur, Lucas Bergvall and Pape Sarr.
But it wasn’t just his battling that was immense, he was also a catalyst in Leicester attacks. He even got the pre-assist for Jamie Vardy’s well-celebrated equaliser.
Soumare is quickly becoming one of Leicester’s most important players and is staking a claim to potentially even be the player of the season.
Soumare should’ve definitely been included in Leicester’s man-of-the-match poll.
