Leicester City summer signing, Harry Winks has been discussing his decision to join the club this summer from Tottenham Hotspur.

Winks signed for the Foxes this summer in a deal worth £10 million as the club prepared for life in the Championship.

With Youri Tielemans, James Maddison, Boubakary Soumare and Nampalys Mendy all leaving the club, reinforcements were needed.

The Englishman has featured in every game so far under Enzo Maresca.

He has started every game, featuring five full 90s, only being substituted three times.

Despite being yet to score or assist a goal, his contribution has been overly positive so far.

What has Harry Winks said?

Other than a loan to Sampdoria last season, Winks has been with Tottenham for his whole career.

As a result a permanent move away could have been a struggle for the midfielder.

203 appearances over an eight year spell as a senior player for Spurs saw Winks feature in multiple finals and high pressure games.

Discussing his move, he felt the Foxes were a great choice: “Leicester as a club speaks for itself, it’s a huge club, the name, the infrastructure, the fans, the training ground, everything sort speaks for itself.”

Despite being in the Championship, the prospect of playing for the club is still tantalising.

There was a personal aspect from the midfielder too: “I wanted to get in a full preseason, get as fit as I could, and to start playing as quickly as possible.”

The England international has never played in the second tier of any league and will need to acclimatise quickly.

On the prospect of promotion, Winks said: “just want to be part of something and fight for something rather than playing somewhere where it’s not going to be as exciting as this.

“This project is so exciting”

It is clear that he is relishing the chance and given his form so far, every party is happy.
