Enzo Maresca believes that his side could be more like Callum Doyle when it comes to making better decisions.

Doyle joined the Foxes on loan for the season from Manchester City this summer and has played in every Championship game so far.

The defender has played a key role in promotion runs with him winning the play offs with Sunderland and losing in the final with Coventry City.

The new Leicester boss’ tactical vision relies heavily on dominating possession and picking the right time to make passes.

With international break taking place, the Italian has been able to work with his players on achieving that vision.

What has Enzo Maresca said about Callum Doyle?

Doyle is often one of the first players in an attacking phase to have the ball and is responsible for starting forward moves.

He is very adept with the ball at his feet, something which more senior players need to learn.

The international break has been beneficial to Maresca: “We had just 10 or 11 players so it was not easy to work on something.

“We used the time to try to improve some of the things we still need to improve like in the last third, and the control of the tempo of the ball.”

When it comes to building attacks from the back, this has been seen as an issue by the manager.

On that point, he said: “It’s the quality of the pass, sometimes it’s a slow pass. If you see Callum’s (Doyle) pass, it’s always a quick pass.

“The tempo of the game is most of the time because of the quality of the pass. We need to improve in that.”

A big compliment to Doyle who is making strides as an important player at the King Power.

Maresca wants passing to become second nature: “Sometimes I can understand that when you are there, you want to shoot and score. This is one of the things we need to improve in the last third.

“We need to improve the choice and the quality of the last pass.”

Leicester have had a good start to the season so if there is another gear to find, it could be frightening for other sides.
