Foxes boss praises ‘no risk’ new signing

Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca believes that new goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, provides ‘opportunity’ to play better football.

Signed from Brondby this summer, Hermansen appears to be Maresca’s number one for the upcoming season.

He started and made his debut against Coventry City, before a lack of fitness kept him out of the last two games.

Foxes’ fans have had some nervousness about the new man is his ability to pass out from the back.

Transitioning from Danny Ward, an old school shot stopper, to a youthful ball playing keeper. It will take some getting used to.

He is integral to how Maresca wants to play and it has been made clear by the Italian, Hermansen is his man.

Coming to the defence of his goalkeeper was clearly on the agenda for the day: “Mads is the keeper that I want. He’s the keeper I desired to have since day one.

“I don’t see any risks, I only see an opportunity to play with the keeper.”

There is no chance of anyone getting it twisted, Maresca wants Hermansen in between the Leicester goal posts.

The style of play the manager wants is why: “The reason why we play many times with the keeper is because we want to have more space going forward.”

It was not only his manager coming to the defence of Hermansen, with Harry Winks also getting involved.

The former Tottenham man was full of praise for the Dane saying: “He’s brilliant with his feet, which is great for us.

“It’s like having another outfield player. It’s helpful for us when we’re building with the ball and playing.”

The manager and his team mates have high hopes for the keeper, with fans on board also, he will only get better.
