Leicester City return to action this weekend with a trip to south London to face Crystal Palace and now have Odsonne Edouard among their ranks.

Steve Cooper’s side make the trip to the capital to face Palace in a bid to get a first win of the season following one draw and two losses from their opening three games.

The Foxes were busy on deadline day and finally ended their search for a striker by signing Odsonne Edouard on loan from the Eagles.

Fans will be hoping to see the Frenchman in action as soon as possible but can that happen this weekend?

Is Odsonne Edouard eligible to play for Leicester City against Crystal Palace?

Sadly for Leicester City fans, they will have to wait another week to see Edouard in action.

Although some leagues allow players on loan to play against their parent clubs – if agreed between the two teams – Premier League rules do not allow for this.

This means that Edouard cannot be named in the squad, meaning that Cooper will only have one recognised striker in the form of Jamie Vardy available for the trip to Palace.

He can make his debut the following week when the Foxes host Everton at the King Power Stadium on 21 September.

Odsonne Edouard’s first words as a Leicester City player

News of Edouard’s arrival left the fanbase torn as some questioned if he would be the right fit however the former Celtic forward said he knows that there is a big expectation on him to keep the Foxes up.

He told the official club website: “I’m very happy to be here and I’m looking forward to starting with my new team-mates. We’ll try to win games and to score some goals. I’m a striker so it’s what everyone expects from me. I’ll try to do my best to try to help the team.

“As a striker, it’s exciting to see the ball a lot, to receive a lot of balls to play forward. I’m looking forward to this and I hope I can link up with the boys.

It’s three years that I’ve been here (in England) now, so I know the league. “Now I hope I can bring my game to the team and, like I say, try to score a lot of goals.”
