Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic face Rangers this afternoon in what could be a decisive match in the Scottish Premiership title race.
The former Leicester City manager has led the Hoops to an incredible 16-point lead over their Glasgow rivals, with Celtic having a chance to all-but confirm another Scottish title with a win today at Celtic Park.

With Rangers playing mid-week in the UEFA Europa League, Celtic head into today’s game fully fresh and raring to go in what could be another historic Old Firm clash for Rodgers in his second stint with the Scottish giants.
Yet speaking beforehand, Rodgers shared a warning to his Celtic players about underestimating Rangers because of their midweek clash against Fenerbahce, with the former Foxes manager bringing up a tale from his time at Leicester.

Brendan Rodgers recounts Leicester win vs Liverpool after losing to Manchester City two days earlier
Speaking to the press ahead of today’s game, Rodgers recounted Leciester’s win against Liverpool in the 2021/22 season having lost to Manchester City just two days earlier on Boxing Day in an incredible 6-3 result.
With Rangers playing 120 minutes on Thursday, Rodgers’ comments have highlighted how Celtic’s Old Firm today won’t be a walk in the park for the Hoops, even with the odds so stacked in the home side’s favour this afternoon.
Rodgers said: “It’s always a mental thing. I had a recent experience with my team at Leicester, where we played Manchester City on the 26th of December away. Peak Man City, then on the 28th, virtually two days later, we played peak Liverpool.
“So it was as tough as you get. Liverpool had more rest coming into the game than ourselves, we had virtually no rest going into the game and won the game 1-0. So physically, of course, it’s exhausting and it’s tiring, but you come into a Celtic-Rangers game, it’s about your mentality as well.”
What former Leicester players has Brendan Rodgers signed for Celtic?
Having spent four years at Leicester and leading the Foxes to European football and an FA Cup trophy, it’s perhaps no real surprise that Rodgers has turned to former stars from the King Power Stadium side since returning to Celtic.
And the decision has proven to be an effective one for the Scottish giants, with Jeffrey Schlupp impressing already for Celtic as Kasper Schmeichel won plaudits against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.
Rodgers might have left Leicester on poor terms, but it’s clear that the former Liverpool manager still has fond memories of his time with the Foxes, with the Northern Irish coach still using lessons from his time at the Premier League side now with Celtic.
