Leicester City fans are unlikely to be too pleased with the Premier League’s referee appointment for their game with Nottingham Forest.

The Foxes are back in Premier League action later this week and will kick off gameweek nine on Friday evening.

Leicester City host Nottingham Forest on October 25th, kicking off at the King Power Stadium at 8pm BST.

Steve Cooper’s side head into the game having climbed up to 14th in the league table following back-to-back wins.

A 1-0 win over Bournemouth was secured prior to the October international break before Leicester beat Southampton 3-2 this past Saturday, coming from two goals down to secure a massive three points.

The Leicester manager will no doubt fancy his side’s chances of making it three wins from three this weekend as well, even if Forest have lost just one in eight so far this term.

Craig Pawson to referee Leicester City vs Nottingham Forest

Ahead of Friday’s clash, the Premier League have now announced the match officials for every game this weekend.

For the meeting at the King Power, Craig Pawson will be the referee, Eddie Smart and Nick Greenhalgh will be his assistants, Darren Bond is the fourth official and Paul Tierney and Harry Lennard will be on VAR duty.

Leicester fans are unlikely to be too pleased to see Pawson refereeing the clash given he was recently demoted by the Premier League.

Pawson took charge of Everton’s meeting with Newcastle United prior to the international break and made a controversial decision not to award Dominic Calvert-Lewin a penalty.

After facing criticism, the 45-year-old was demoted to fourth official duties this past weekend for Chelsea vs Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United.

He returns to the spotlight on Friday though, with Leicester no doubt hoping he will not make any similarly controversial decisions in their game.

Craig Pawson record with Leicester City

Friday’s game will be the 43rd time Pawson has taken charge of a Leicester game but the Foxes do not have a great record with him in charge.

They have won just 13 of those games, drawing eight and losing in the remaining 21 matches.

Pawson has shown 70 yellow cards to Leicester players over the years, only awarding more (80) to Manchester United.

He has also given out three red cards and awarded five penalty kicks in his 42 games refereeing the Midlands outfit.
