Ahead of Leicester City’s return to Championship action against Swansea City, Enzo Maresca has given injury updates on key players.

Going into the international break, the Foxes find themselves at the top of the table after a record-breaking start to the season.

Despite the great start, Maresca hasn’t been without trouble in the way of injuries this season with plenty of players missing games.

As it stands the Foxes have four first-team players missing which provides their manager with selection dilemmas across the pitch.

Tom Cannon’s return date is unknown as the injury he had sustained, even before joining City, has kept him out.

Speaking before the Swansea match, Maresca has opened up about his squad.

The Belgian started the season well and despite only playing three matches, he managed an assist.

He has missed the last seven games due to an injury to his back that he sustained against Huddersfield last month.

Earlier this month, Maresca described the injury as ‘important’ and reported that he would be out for 10 to 12 weeks.

As a result of this injury he likely won’t play until late November or early December.

Doyle was taken off at half-time against Bristol City in a moment which left Maresca very disappointed due to the youngster’s ability.

The defender has gone on to have an operation on his knee and as a result, will serve a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

His manager rates him highly and when asked about Doyle said: “It will be between 12 and 16 weeks.

“He is the only player, being left-footed. We have been unlucky.”

An unfortunate thing to hear and given his start to the season it is extremely frustrating to see him out.

Kasey McAteer injury report

One of the surprise packages of the season, McAteer has scored four goals in just nine league games.

The winger spent last season on loan with Wimbledon. While there he only scored one, but he has become one of the most important players for the Foxes.

He came on against Blackburn Rovers in the 4-1 win and only managed to complete 18 minutes before coming off.

This injury upset the City boss: “We are unhappy because he was doing very well. He is a great guy, happy and hungry.”

With that being said, it may be a slight blessing in disguise: “It’s just for six weeks. Probably it’s a good time for him to have some rest after a good start. He will be back soon with us.”

A bright light so far this season and he will be back soon.
