Leicester City manager, Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Callum Doyle is set to miss a lengthy period due to injury.

The Manchester City loanee was taken off at half time against Bristol City with injury being the likely concern among Foxes fans.

Seen leaving the King Power on crutches, fans had been fearing the worst for one of their most important players so far this season.

The 19-year old had a scan at the beginning of the week. He will go for further checks but the early reports are not positive.

What has Enzo Maresca said about Callum Doyle?

Maresca wasn’t for beating around the bush for this one, saying: “Unfortunately, it’s not good

“We’re expecting him a long time out. We don’t know exactly how long.”

Considering the start he has made to life for Leicester, this one does come as a disappointment.

There is one thing that makes this all the more disappointing. This is the fact he has never suffered a serious injury in his career prior to this.

On that point, the Foxes boss said: “When you play football, you know these kinds of things can happen.

“It’s his first important injury. I had him three years ago and he was never injured. At Sunderland, he played all the games. At Coventry, he played all the games. It is what it is.”

There is no current time frame on the injury which may be adding to the frustration further.

On this, Maresca said: “They are doing some checks. They just said to me that it could be a long time but we don’t know exactly the injury and the time.”

It is disappointing to lose Doyle but with the Italian coach, the Foxes are in safe hands: “We’re going to find a solution. We’ll adapt.”
