Kostas Tsimikas has revealed Liverpool’s thoughts on their EFL Cup tie against Leicester City labelling the Foxes as ‘very tough’.

Leicester drew the Reds in the cup following a 2-0 win over Tranmere Rovers in the previous round.

Enzo Maresca’s side dominated from start to finish, keeping nearly 70% possession and created two big chances throughout the game.

Goals from Wilfred Ndidi and Jamie Vardy secured a place in the next round.

Liverpool are entering the competition at this point due to their involvement in European competition.

Last season, Jurgen Klopp’s side were knocked out in their second game up against Manchester City in a close-fought game.

What has Kostas Tsimikas said about Leicester City?

Liverpool have had a positive start to the season, sitting second in the Premier League and have won their first game in the Europa League.

Greek defender, Tsimikas typically plays more games in cup competitions, taking the place of Andrew Robertson.

The left-back believes Leicester are a good side: “I think, as I remember, it was a very tough game, a very strong opponent.

“It doesn’t matter now that they are in the second league, I think they will come for us, they will give absolutely everything, so we have to be, in every part of the game.”

It is clear that the former Premier League champions aren’t taking the game lightly.

On that point, the Greece international said: “It’s going to be a very, very tough game so we have to be 100 per cent ready for this game.

“Of course, we want to win, we want to win this trophy again. Everything is special on the way there and we have to go for it.”

They may see this game as a challenge, but one they feel they can overcome: “We will go for it, we see every game and every competition differently.”

The Foxes will hope to cause an upset and go deeper into the cup.
