Enzo Maresca expecting Chelsea star to return from injury in time for Leicester City but two certain to miss out

Leicester City have just 11 games left to save their season, and with a trip to Chelsea up next, things aren’t getting any easier.

Ruud van Nistelrooy is under huge pressure at Leicester City. He must improve performances, and results, but there isn’t much confidence being shown in his ability to keep the Foxes up.

The Foxes travel to London for a Premier League fixture against Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea on Sunday.

Leicester City’s match against Chelsea, like all of them between now and the end of the season, is a must-win, but could be made harder by one player’s potential return.

Trevoh Chalobah set to make Chelsea return against Leicester City

Trevoh Chalobah is set to return from recent injury and make himself available for Chelsea ahead of their next Premier League matchup against Leicester City.

The 25-year-old suffered an injury to his back during the Blues’ 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa last month.

Maresca confirmed after the match that the defender’s setback was “not an important injury” and confirmed “he will be out for around one week to 10 days.”

As a result, Chalobah is in contention to feature against Copenhagen in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night and then against Leicester City on the weekend.

The ones who will miss out

Although there is an expectation that Chalobah will be returning in time for this weekend, the Blues will certainly be without two key players at the other end of the pitch.

Both Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson are ruled out until April with hamstring injuries. The pair will not feature until at least after the next international break.

Van Nistelrooy won’t be pinning his hopes on Chelsea’s injury list though.

The size of the Blues’ squad means injuries, even to multiple players, don’t have the same devastating effect they would on other teams, which is bad news for the travelling Foxes, who must leave Stamford Bridge with something.
