First details of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s coaching staff revealed as new coach spotted in Leicester dugout

It was a winning start to life at Leicester City for Ruud van Nistelrooy as the Foxes beat West Ham United 3-1 on Tuesday night.

Goals from Jamie Vardy, Bilal El Khannouss and Patson Daka were enough to end a run of five Premier League games without a win and move four points clear of the relegation zone.

Van Nistelrooy was visibly happy with the performance but stressed that there would be more to come from his side having spent less than 48 hours with the squad before the win.

There was plenty to digest from the thrilling encounter at the King Power Stadium, but one thing that did go unnoticed, was a second new face in the dugout.

Ruud van Nistelrooy adds new coach to Leicester City staff

Details about Van Nistelrooy’s coaching staff have been limited as of yet, but the first signs of who may be coming in were revealed last night.

Alongside the likes of Ben Dawson, Andy Hughes, and Danny Alcock was Dutchman Jelle ten Rouwelaar.

The Amazon Prime cameras picked up Ten Rouwelaar conveying with the new Leicester boss, who Van Nistelrooy confirmed had joined the squad as his “assistant/goalkeeping coach” in his post-match press conference.

Jelle ten Rouwelaar is a former professional goalkeeper who is now working as a coach at Leicester.

During his playing days, the 43-year-old played for the likes of NAC Breda, PSV and Emmen before retiring in 2016.

After making over 300 appearances at Breda, he joined the side’s coaching staff as a goalkeeping coach at youth level.

A spell at Anderlecht followed before he then went with Vincent Kompany to Burnley in 2022, staying until Kompany left for Bayern Munich.

Van Rouwelaar then joined Ajax but lasted a total of eight days before Manchester United convinced him to join.

He formed part of Van Nistelrooy’s interim staff at United before leaving upon Ruben Amorim’s appointment.
