Leicester City face bottom of the table Everton this weekend in a must-win match for both sides.

The Foxes are looking for a first win of the season and came close to doing so last weekend, only to surrender a two-goal lead to draw at Crystal Palace.

Everton meanwhile are one of the only two clubs yet to pick up a single point in the Premier League this season.

A win for either team could be the catalyst to kick-start their season and it’s likely to prove to be a tense affair at the King Power Stadium.

Both teams have vast experience in the top flight and have had some overlap in terms of players who have donned the colours of Leicester and Everton in the past.

So with that, we look at five players who have played for the Foxes and the Toffees.

Gary Lineker

Gary Lineker is arguably the most talented player to have featured for both teams.

Lineker, a Leicester legend, began his career with the Foxes and rose through the club’s academy before establishing himself in the first team.

He became a regular in the 1981/82 campaign, scoring 19 goals in all competitions before scoring 26 the following season as Leicester would secure promotion to the First Division.

After finishing top of the First Division scoring charts with 24 in the 1984/85 season, Lineker moved to Everton.

Although he would only spend one year at Goodison Park, Lineker was adored by the Merseyside club, scoring 30 goals to finish as the First Division’s top scorer, and securing a second-place finish for the Toffees.

His performances, which included three hattricks, caught the eye of Barcelona and he joined one season later.

Yakubu

Yakubu’s name has been doing the rounds recently as part of the Barclays nostalgia folklore and he was a popular figure at both Everton and Leicester.

The Nigeria international arrived on Merseyside in 2007, scoring 11 minutes into his debut. The forward also became the first Everton player since Peter Beardsley to score 20 goals in a season in his first campaign.

After suffering from various injury issues, Yakubu was sent on loan to Leicester in January 2011. He became an instant fan favourite, scoring 11 goals in 20 appearances, including a stunning volley against rivals Derby County.

Unfortunately for the Foxes, they were unable to keep the forward permanently, with Yakubu opting to join Blackburn Rovers instead.

Ademola Lookman

Ademola Lookman experienced contrasting fortunes during his spells with Everton and Leicester.

Lookman joined Everton as a youngster from Charlton Athletic but despite his promise, failed to set the world alight.

The winger failed to break into the first team and spent time out on loan at RB Leipzig before joining permanently.

Once again, Lookman would struggle to get minutes and after a season on loan at Fulham, joined Leicester on a temporary deal for the 2021/22 season.

He was one of the star performers of the season, which included a run to the Conference League semi-finals. His best moment was scoring the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win against Liverpool in December 2021.

Brendan Rodgers admitted during an interview that he wanted to sign Lookman permanently, but was told by the club that they couldn’t afford him.

Since then he went on to win the Europa League with Atalanta, scoring a hat trick in the final, earning himself a Ballon d’Or nomination.

Kevin Campbell

The late Kevin Campbell had stints at both clubs. His first was a short loan spell at Leicester after he joined the Foxes from Arsenal for the 1989/90 season.

Campbell was by no means a regular but had a respectable record, scoring five times in 11 appearances before returning to Arsenal to establish himself in the first team.

His time at Everton would come during the latter stages of his career, signing an initial loan deal in 1999.

Nine goals in eight appearances were enough to convince the Toffees to make the move permanent and he would stay at the club until 2005, scoring 36 times in 137 appearances.

Marcus Bent

Marcus Bent was another player who spent time on loan at Leicester before spending time at Everton permanently.

Bent joined Leicester on loan from Ipswich Town, who were struggling financially at the time. The striker couldn’t help the Foxes avoid relegation to the second tier, despite scoring 10 goals for the East Midlanders.

Everton then seized on the opportunity to sign the forward from Ipswich in the summer of 2004. Bent failed to make a major impact, scoring seven goals in his first season before losing his place to James Beattie.
