Kasper Schmeichel has joined Anderlecht after leaving Nice. He had an offer from Brendan Rodgers at Celtic but he hasn’t taken him up.
Schmeichel left Leicester City in last summers transfer window as he felt he ‘needed a new challenge’.
The Dane potentially saw the direction the club was heading as without him, the club suffered relegation.
With the loss of their captain, replaced with Danny Ward and Daniel Iversen, it was a huge factor of the decline of the Foxes.
As they finished 18th, Dean Smith’s side conceded the joint third most goals in the Premier League last season.
With Mads Hermansen, City have their new Dane in between the posts, with high hopes already.
After Schmeichel had departed from Nice, terminating his contract, the question was where would he end up?
Rogers and Celtic were a team that made sense, but it is Anderlecht that have signed the goalkeeper.
Why has Kasper Schmeichel joined Anderlecht?
Schmeichel joined the Ligue 1 outfit for a rumoured £1 million fee and has departed the club little over a year later.
He made 36 appearances in France managing to keep an impressive 11 clean sheets, while conceding just 35 goals.
In spite of a good season, he has moved on.

There were reports that Celtic were very interested in securing his signature with former manager Rodgers clearly keen on the move.
Despite having links to his former manager, Belgium is the new home of Schmeichel.
On the move, the Danish international has said: “Anderlecht is just a massive club and former teammates from different places have always talked so highly and warmly of this place.
“It was something that I really wanted to become part of.”
Last season the Purple and White finished 11th, dropping eight places from the season prior.
So far this season they have won four and find themselves second in the Pro League so could be looking for a title challenge.
With a player like Schmeichel, with the experience he has, he could be great.
