The former Leicester City star has swapped the football pitch for the boxing ring.

Danny Simpson will forever be one of the Foxes’ best-known players after his historic stint with the club.

A Manchester United academy product, Simpson spent the early stages of his career at a variety of different teams including Ipswich Town, Blackburn Rovers, and Queens Park Rangers.

The right-back made the move to Leicester City in August 2014 for around £2m.

Simpson did not enjoy a great debut season with the Midlands outfit, who endured a relegation battle throughout most of 2014/15 before finishing 14th.

The following campaign, however, saw Leicester and Simpson shock the footballing world.

Under the guidance of Claudio Ranieri, the Foxes went on to win their first-ever Premier League trophy in 2015/16.

Simpson played a key role in their title-winning campaign, featuring 30 times in the league.

Danny Simpson to fight for KSI Misfits’ boxing promotion

Simpson spent another three years at the King Power but he was released on a free in 2019.

The right-back went on to enjoy spells with Bristol City and Macclesfield Town, who were his most recent club.

The Englishman left Macclesfield in July and at the age of 37, has called time on his playing career.

However, the ex-Leicester star is showing no signs of slowing down in his retirement.

It was confirmed on August 7th that Simpson will fight for KSI’s Misfits’ boxing promotion later this month.

Simpon will face off against YouTuber/Twitch streamer Danny Aarons on the undercard. Misfits confirmed the news via their official Instagram account.

They wrote: “KSI tops HUGE night in Dublin Aug 31.

“HS TikkyTokky takes on George Fensom, Danny Aarons takes on EPL winner Danny Simpson and KSI performs an exclusive music set when Misfits Boxing comes to Ireland.”
