Four Leicester City stars told to ‘improve’ as ‘inconsistent’ claim now emerges

Leicester City have several players who need to improve after a recent claim has emerged over consistency levels.

Despite running rampant in the opening quarter of the season, two consecutive defeats have led to concern at the King Power.

Leicester City have seen back-to-back 1-0 defeats halt their runaway title charge and could be vacated from top spot if they fail to beat Watford this weekend.

Drawing blanks in two consecutive games has led to questions being raised over Leicester’s strikers.

However it isn’t just the striker’s who have caught criticism for recent performances with EFL pundit Adrian Clarke calling out the entire winger department.

‘Inconsistent’ wingers need to improve for Leicester

Speaking on the What the EFL?! podcast this week, Clarke called for the likes of Stephy Mavididi, Abdul Fatawu, Kasey McAteer and Yunus Akgun to show more for the Foxes.

“I still think that the wingers, as exciting as they are, are a little bit inconsistent with their end product so that’s an area to improve I’m sure they’ll have worked on it during the international break.”

This is a fair critique given nobody on the wing has really staked a claim this season and shown themselves to be above the rest, which explains the regular rotations.

If Enzo Maresca‘s side are to bounce back into form this weekend, they’ll need the wingers to be back on top of their game.

How have Leicester’s wingers contributed?

When looking at the contributions which Leicester City’s wingers have made, it’s clear that they need to show more.

Shown on the BBC’s top scorer charts, Kasey McAteer is the top contributor for the wing with five goals in all competitions.

Mavididi has done himself justice in fairness with three goals and three assists this season already from the left.

Fatawu has a goal and an assist from the right as he continues to develop well and is a player we are excited about.

Akgun meanwhile has two assists but is yet to grab a goal for the club.
