Harry Souttar joined Sheffield United on loan for the 2024-2025 campaign and has become a crucial player for Chris Wilder’s side.

After a difficult couple of years at Leicester City, Harry Souttar finally headed for the exit door as he joined Sheffield United on a season-long loan.

Souttar has played four times for the Blades, and even captained them, earning himself a place back in the Australia national side after he was told his position was under threat due to a lack of game time.

It’s been a frustrating time of late for Souttar, who despite impressing any time he has worn the Leicester shirt, has rarely been given the chance to shine.

Harry Souttar says it’s good to be ‘treated like a proper player again’

After biding his time for long enough Souttar finally decided that he had enough and that he needed to leave the King Power Stadium to further his career.

And although it’s still early days, Souttar looks like a changed man and admits he is enjoying the chance to play football regularly again.

“It’s just really great to be playing, to feel like a player again, and to get treated like a proper football player is really nice,” he revealed while on international duty.

Speaking about his first weeks at Sheffield United, he added: “It’s been great. I’ve really enjoyed my first few weeks there. I’m thankful that they’ve come in for me, and given me somewhere to show what I can do.

“It’s a great club, they’re good people, and even though it’s kind of a new playing group, it’s one that’s going really well, and hopefully we’re going from strength to strength.

“Every time we pay together and train together, it’s just really enjoyable. Hopefully that continues this season.”

How has Harry Souttar fared at Sheffield United?

Regular football was top of Souttar’s list when it came to securing a move from the King Power Stadium and at Brammall Lane, has already been given plenty of opportunity.

His immediate impact in Yorkshire even saw Souttar given the captain’s armband for their Carabao Cup first-round tie against Wrexham.

Furthermore, the 25-year-old has played the full 90 minutes in three of his four appearances and should he keep up these performances, a permanent move could be on the cards, especially if they secure promotion back to the Premier League.
