Not every player at Leicester City will make it, even if they look like they’re the real deal.

Others, like Jamie Vardy, have taken a while to develop before becoming the player that they are today.

Meanwhile, the next generation of talent like Jeremy Monga and Jake Evans will hope to make an immediate impact and become legendary figures at the football club.

One former Foxes academy star knows this all too well after bursting onto the scene on his debut to now only just finding a club after two years out of football.

Joe Dodoo signs for Solihull Moors after two-year absence

Leicester fans with good memory will remember Joe Dodoo, the youngster who had the ultimate debut as a Foxes first-teamer.

He was given his first run out against Football League opposition in Bury during a Carabao Cup and scored a hat trick on his debut.

That was about as good as it got and despite playing for Rangers and a host of lower league English clubs, had been a free agent since leaving Doncaster Rovers in January 2023.

But, after a long two years out, the 29-year-old was unveiled by National League outfit Solihull Moors on a short-term deal until the end of the season after making his debut against Altrincham Town on 25 March, scoring the equaliser for his new club.

Solihull wrote: “The Leicester City academy graduate has put pen-to-paper on a short-term deal at Damson Park, bolstering our attacking options for our final eight Vanarama National League fixtures.

“The 29-year-old has had spells with Rangers, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic, Doncaster Rovers and most recently Burton Albion.

“The Ghanian forward will wear the number 33 shirt for the remainder of the season.”

Leicester City players who have scored on their debut

Dodoo isn’t the only player who has had a debut to remember in a Leicester City shirt.

Several former Foxes have had the pleasure of endearing themselves to supporters straightaway, with notable inclusions like Leonardo Ulloa, Jeffrey Schlupp and more.

Of course, there are plenty more who have scored on debut, but these are among some of the most memorable, with Archie Gardiner holding the record for the most goals scored on a Leicester debut when he bagged four against Portsmouth in 1934.
