Leicester City are set for a huge weekend in the Premier League as they host Thomas Frank’s Brentford on Friday night.
During his first few months as Leicester manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy has returned just two league wins from a possible 13.
Leicester’s 2-0 defeat against Arsenal last weekend condemned the Dutchman to his 10th Premier League loss as he continues to make history for all the wrong reasons.
But whilst supporters have lost all hope, the Foxes can leapfrog Wolves out of the relegation zone by beating Brentford.

Current Bees boss Thomas Frank was a managerial target for Leicester in 2022 when Brendan Rodgers began the season on a seven-match losing streak.
Of course, a deal never ended up happening, and that isn’t the only occasion where both clubs have crossed paths.

Leicester City wanted to sign Brentford’s Mikkel Damsgaard in 2021
Under the guidance of Rodgers during the 2021 summer transfer window, the Welshman was in the market for a playmaker.
Following his performances at Euro 2020 for Denmark, Sampdoria’s Mikkel Damsgaard caught the eye. Leicester even held negotiations with him, according to Leicestershire Live, although the Italian side held firm in the stance that he wasn’t for sale.
In the summer of 2022, it was Brentford who captured Damsgaard on a five-year contract, leaving the Foxes wondering what could have been.
It hasn’t been the easiest few years for the 24-year-old, finding himself in and out of the team under Frank, but this term his talents have truly exploded into life.
From failing to score and only providing two assists in his first two Premier League campaigns, the Danish international now has an impressive two goals and eight assists.
He’s become the creative hub in the Brentford team and on Friday night, his incredible creativity could ruin Leicester’s survival hopes.
How Damsgaard’s stats compare to Leicester’s midfielders
Damsgaard was hailed as ‘magical’ during his time at Sampdoria and he’s fast becoming one of the division’s most creative midfielders.
Indeed, when comparing the Brentford star to the output coming from Leicester’s midfielders, Damsgaard is head and shoulders above them all.
| Player | Goals | Assists | Goal involvements |
| Mikkel Damsgaard | 2 | 8 | 10 |
| Facundo Buonanotte | 4 | 2 | 6 |
| Wilfred Ndidi | 0 | 4 | 4 |
| Bilal El Khannouss | 2 | 1 | 3 |
| Harry Winks | 0 | 2 | 2 |
Van Nistelrooy will be hoping his side can stop Damsgaard, Yoanne Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo, who Leicester also tried to sign in 2020.
