Leicester City return to Premier League action against Manchester City on Wednesday night and it’s a game fans won’t be excited for.
It’s been an abysmal run of form for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men, who have lost 13 of their last 14 matches in the league, including a 3-0 defeat against Manchester United last time out.
All hope is lost in the fight for survival, as it seems impossible for Leicester to overturn a nine-point deficit and overtake Wolves.

Relegation to the Championship is firmly on the cards and this week, Pep Guardiola’s champions can pile further misery onto Van Nistelrooy.
Man City could be without Erling Haaland who suffered an injury against Bournemouth and left the Vitality Stadium on crutches. However, the Foxes should face someone who they previously rejected.

Claudio Ranieri rejected Matheus Nunes after trial in 2016
Manchester City’s squad is filled with superstar talent including the likes of Phil Foden, Josko Gvardiol, Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku.
One player who has disappointed since arriving at the Etihad Stadium, though, is Portuguese midfielder Matheus Nunes.
Guardiola signed Nunes from Wolves for £53 million in 2023 after impressing in one campaign at Wolves. Interestingly, his path to stardom could have been a whole lot different if he had been snapped up by Leicester.
Following their Premier League title win in 2015/16, Claudio Ranieri rejected the chance to sign the then-teenager after he went on a week-long trial, as per The Athletic.
At the time, Nunes was playing in Lisbon’s district leagues for his local team, Ericeirense, in the sixth division of Portuguese football.
Leicester missed out on a steal by not snapping up the all-action midfielder nine years ago and he isn’t the only star they’ve snubbed.
Leicester have also rejected Ivan Toney and Ben White
Funnily enough, Leicester also rejected Ben White after a trial when the youngster was just 16-years-old. The Englishman has since become one of England’s best defenders while starring for Arsenal in the Premier League.
In an interview with the Guardian in 2022, White admitted he ‘wasn’t good enough’ at the time, and this saw the Foxes snub the chance to sign him.
“I wasn’t good enough when I was younger. I was a late developer. I was probably as tall as I am now but really skinny, gangly, couldn’t really run,” White said.
“I went to Bristol Rovers on trial for three days. I only did two because we were literally just running up hills. Didn’t get a football out at all and it absolutely killed me, I couldn’t do it. Then I got a trial at Leicester, they didn’t offer me anything.”
Remarkably, Leicester also released Ivan Toney as a youngster, and the striker made them pay with his goal-scoring prowess at Brentford, and now he’s earning lucrative money at Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli.
