How every Leicester City player has been doing out on loan

Several Leicester City stars were sent out on loan this season to get first-team minutes and potentially secure a permanent move away.

The pressure may be on Steve Cooper after a dismal run of results, but it’s been positive for others who have spent the season away from the King Power Stadium, continuing from the last update.

From derby day victories to topping the league table, let’s see how every Leicester City star has fared out on loan in the past month.

Harry Souttar – Sheffield United

Life is looking very good for Harry Souttar at Sheffield United.

The defender has been a stalwart at centre-back for the Blades as they aim to make an immediate return to the Premier League.

Souttar has only lost twice when playing for the red side of Sheffield and played the full 90 in their Steel City derby win against Sheffield Wednesday.

His performances have caught the eye of manager Chris Wilder, who has previously hinted that he would like to sign the Australia international.

Ben Nelson – Oxford United

After taking a while to bed in, Ben Nelson is now a regular in the Oxford United team.

Nelson had started five games in a row before having to go off injured in a 1-0 win against Hull City.

The 20-year-old didn’t play in the 1-0 loss against Watford and given the Foxes’ defensive frailties, there is a chance that the recall clause could be activated in his contract.

Tom Cannon – Stoke City

In the October update, Tom Cannon had found his feet, scoring four goals in one game, and has continued that good form.

Cannon has scored two in his last three games, against Derby County and Blackburn Rovers, taking his tally to seven in 13 in all competitions, and has subsequently been nominated for the Championship Player of the Month award.

His celebration against Blackburn also led to supporters drawing comparisons to Jamie Vardy, who is renowned for a wind-up or two.

Wanya Marcal – De Graafschap

Sadly for Wanya Marcal, the loan move to De Graafschap hasn’t gone quite to plan.

The winger is still waiting to make his debut for the Dutch second-tier following a deadline-day move.

Reports in the Netherlands last month revealed that he had returned to England to recover from an ankle injury sustained in training.

Sammy Braybrooke – Dundee

Sammy Braybrooke has struggled for minutes over the past month.

Since October, Braybrooke has only played two times and only lasted 45 minutes in one of those and four in the other.

As for Dundee themselves, they are currently three points off a top-six spot but level on points with Kilmarnock and Ross County.

Silko Thomas – Wigan Athletic

Silko Thomas is still waiting for his first goal/assist in Wigan Athletic colours.

Thomas has been in and out of the starting XI in recent weeks, starting two and coming on as a sub in the other two.

Amani Richards – Exeter City

After a positive start to life at League One side Exeter City, the last month hasn’t been one to remember for Amani Richards.

The 19-year-old hasn’t played since a 1-0 win against Cambridge United and has not been in any of the matchday squads since 22 October.

Brandon Cover – Port Vale

Brandon Cover is enjoying a similar tale to Souttar while out on loan at Port Vale.

The defender has been pivotal in Vale’s run of form, which has them leading at the top of League Two.

Cover scored his second for the club in a 3-2 win against AFC Wimbledon, starting nearly all of those, and has become a fan favourite.

Chris Popov – Barrow

Chris Popov has failed to nail down a starting spot at Barrow and has been used sparingly off the bench,

The 20-year-old is also yet to score or register an assist in any of his 12 games for the League Two side.

Brad Young – Hartlepool United

After returning to the club where he began his career, Brad Young had to be patient before being given his chance in the starting XI.

Young has played every game since the previous update, drawing two, winning one, and losing one in those four fixtures.
