How Will Alves reacted to making first start for Cardiff City, including praise from Leicester City teammates

Will Alves recorded a personal milestone as he made his first-ever start in senior football for Cardiff City on Saturday.

Alves joined Cardiff on transfer deadline day and the 19-year-old star has already been catching the eye in south Wales.

Cardiff fans raved about Alves after their 1-1 draw with Bristol City on Saturday and after impressing again, the youngster took to Instagram to react to his first start for the Bluebirds.

Will Alves posts social media message after first Cardiff City start

Shortly after the game at the Cardiff City Stadium, Alves posted a picture of himself in the Cardiff shirt alongside the caption: “A hard fought point and a proud moment to have made my first start for the club at home.”

A number of his Leicester teammates replied underneath, including goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk.

His fellow Leicester academy graduate posted two clapping hands emojis in the comments.

Kasey McAteer also commented with a love heart emoji. The official Leicester account replied: “Love this, Will.”

Henry Cartwright said: “Well in you”, and Brad Young, Silko Thomas and Jayden Joseph were also among the others to comment.

How did Cardiff City’s media react to Will Alves’ first start?

It wasn’t just the Cardiff fans who were impressed by Alves as WalesOnline singled out the England youth international.

In their match ratings, they wrote: “A lively presence in the final third throughout. Was at the heart of what was an improved second-half performance.”

His manager, Omer Riza was also very complimentary of the attacking midfielder, saying: “Young Will Alves has looked very lively, very bright. He causes problems.”
