Leicester U21s qualify for Premier League 2 play-offs
Leicester’s academy has been a ray of sunshine in an otherwise stormy season for the club.
The team have been on an incredible run of form of late and heading into their game against West Bromwich Albion U21s, were five games unbeaten and had scored 18 goals across those matches.
Some Leicester fans even opted to watch the U21s, who were playing the same time as the seniors on Monday night and although they were subjected to a goalless draw, there was still reason to cheer.
That 0-0 draw meant that Leicester’s U21s qualified for the Premier League 2 play-offs with a game to spare.
How does Premier League 2 work?
Premier League 2 had a huge revamp in the 23/24 season in order to bring more competition and offer players a development path to their respective first teams.
As per the official Premier League website, the league consists of 26 teams, all of whom are Category One sides.
Those clubs are then dividied into five pots based on performances over the past three seasons, playing 20 games. Each team plays the other teams in their pot once before playing three to five teams in all other pots either home or away.

The top 16 clubs then advance to the Premeir League 2 play-offs where they will be drawn based on their league positions (i.e. first place will play 16th, second vis 15th etc.).
Additionally, the sides who secure a top 12 finish will also play in the Premier League International Cup competition
