What some Leicester City fans are going to be doing during Newcastle game

Leicester City fans have basically given up hope on any chances of Premier League survival.

The Foxes could set a record for losing eight games in a row without scoring if they are beaten by Newcastle United on Monday night.

With eight games remaining, Leicester are 15 points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers and it’s a matter of when, not if their relegation to the Championship is confirmed.

For some supporters, apathy has set in and despite it being a home game at the King Power Stadium, not everyone is planning on watching the game.

Some Leicester supporters are watching the U21s side instead

Whilst Leicester’s first-team continues to struggle, the academy is flying high.

Thanks to the highly-rated youngsters including Louis Page and then the duo Jeremy Monga and Jake Evans, the young Foxes are into the top 10 of Premier League 2.

Wins and goals are what fans crave most and with the U21s in action at the same time the first team play, some supporters are deciding to support the next generation instead.

It’s still likely to be a near-full house at the King Power Stadium anyway, but it really does sum up the current mood around the club.

Jeremy Monga unlikely to play for Leicester first team this season

Out of all the youngsters people want to be seen given a chance this season, Jeremy Monga is at the top.

Aged 15, Monga has caught the eye and has been training with the first team. Given the Foxes’ circumstances, there can be no harm in giving him a chance but it seems that Ruud van Nistelrooy will block out the noise and not rush to give him a chance.

At his press conference last week, he said: “We’re absolutely convinced he can have an impact on this club in the short term.

“I don’t mean now, because that’s going to be difficult. But when he turns 16, then things are easier and for next season he will be a member (of the squad) there. That’s the process we’re in with him now.”
