Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen has been hailed as the ‘complete package’ by Brondby assistant coach Martin Retov.
Mads Hermansen has been among the standout players for Leicester City this season and a vital factor in the league leaders form.
Last season in getting relegated, one of Leicester’s worst aspects was the goalkeeper position and likely played a big part in relegation.
This season however is a very different story, with 23-year-old Hermansen keeping five clean sheets and averaging 2.8 saves per game via SofaScore.
Now he has been hailed by his former coach at Brondby, Martin Retov.

Retov hails Hermansen
Speaking to Danish outlet Tips Bladet, Retov said that Hermansen is the “complete package while also insisting he is a long-term successor to Kasper Schmeichel for the Denmark side. A comparison has been made repeatedly, despite Hermansen refuting it.
He said: “We had no doubt about it back then. Mads was absolutely sure of himself, composed, and a calm type, who was already skilled on the ball at the U17 level.
“He could pass the ball through the lines and not just be a shot-stopper. He has always had the complete package. That’s why, back when [Marvin] Schwäbe was here, and Mads was the second goalkeeper, there were early discussions about him taking over from Schwäbe. Now Schwäbe finished with a championship, which couldn’t be much better, but Mads was ready early.
“He’s showing that now as well. He performed fantastically during the years he was on the first team and has just continued at a high level. He’s a player who goes far because he is self-assured, calm, and believes in his own abilities.”
How good has Hermansen been?
Hermansen boasts the highest save percentage in the league at 81.3% according to FBRef. He has conceded nine all season but hasn’t conceded more than one goal in a game this season.
With five clean sheets, he is two adrift of the leader Alex Palmer of West Brom who leads the league with seven. So with that in mind, it is safe to say that Hermansen has been brilliant this season for Leicester.
