Leicester City fans have been given their first insight into what to expect from Ruud van Nistelrooy as a coach.

Van Nistelrooy was appointed by the Foxes last week and will take charge for the first time against West Ham United.

Foxes fans are already excited by the 48-year-old’s arrival and Van Nistelrooy revealed he had spoken to Enzo Maresca before taking the job.

Now, ahead of his curtain raiser at the King Power Stadium, a glimpse into the Premier League icon’s coaching style has been revealed.

Ruud van Nistelrooy expected to be ‘hands-on coach’ as Leicester City manager

As revealed by Rob Tanner of The Athletic, Leicester fans are expected to watch a manager who will have plenty of say on how his team sets up.

Tanner revealed that Van Nistelrooy has already “drawn up detailed plans for his first training sessions and schedule” and will be a “hands-on coach” with the players.

Supporters are also expected to see a style of football similar to what they witnessed under former boss Maresca.

Speaking at his pre-West Ham press conference on Monday, the Dutchman said: “Structures off the ball it’s a 4-4-2, where we look to give pressure on the opponent using different formations. But the basic structure in that is 4-4-2.

“There was a three-box-three that I used at United and that was developed by Enzo came in the Championship. I saw that as an advantage coming here that I am used to developing these structures. It saves me a bit of work!”

First details of Leicester City backroom staff under Ruud van Nistelrooy revealed

Plenty has been made about who Van Nistelrooy will bring in to be a part of his coaching team.

Ben Dawson, Andy Hughes and Danny Alcock were in charge against Brentford and while it is still early days, little has been mentioned.

The report states that the new Leicester boss will bring in a smaller coaching staff compared to previous managers.

This is partially due to his hands-on approach, but also because he doesn’t want to disrupt the harmony of the squad too much.
