Leicester City were looking to bounce back when they welcomed Chelsea to the King Power on Saturday.

It has been a rough start to the 2024/25 Premier League season for Steve Cooper and his Leicester City players.

The Foxes had picked up just two wins from their first 11 league fixtures prior to the weekend and were massive underdogs against Chelsea.

Ahead of the game getting underway, Leicester were already facing an uphill battle with two of their star attackers missing due to injury or suspension.

This saw the manager put out an interesting eleven on Saturday, with Leicester fans left furious by one Cooper call vs Chelsea.

Things got off to a nightmare start for the home team when Nicolas Jackson put Chelsea 1-0 up after just 15 minutes.

Leicester fans were baffled by Wout Faes for his role in the goal, with defensive errors accruing all too often in their side’s games this season.

Chelsea continued to create plenty of chances before Enzo Fenrnadez made it 2-0 in the 74th minute to kill the game off.

Jordan Ayew did score from the penalty spot in second-half injury time but it was too little, too late.

Here’s how the players rated:

Mads Hermansen – 6

Made a couple of big saves during the clash but was largely let down by his defenders on the day.

James Justin – 6

Leicester’s right-hand side was heavily targeted by Chelsea, with both Justin and Faes exposed far too often across the 90 minutes.

Wout Faes – 2

Produced one of the worst pieces of defending seen in the Premier League this season to hand Nicolas Jackson the opening goal.

Caleb Okoli – 5

Was not helped out by Faes at all but could have done better when closing Jackson down for the opener.

Victor Kristiansen – 5

Really struggled to deal with the threat of Noni Madueke down Leicester’s left.

Boubakary Soumare – 6

Grew into the tie and won the ball in some key areas to start a few Leicester attacks that nearly ended in goals.

Wilfred Ndidi – 5

Missed a big chance in the first half and didn’t do enough defensively to help out the Foxes’ struggling defenders. Should have been sent off for a challenge on Cole Palmer

Harry Winks – N/A

Was forced after just 11 minutes due to injury.

Bilal El Khannouss – 5

Made some promising runs forward to try and get his team up the pitch but was not at his best out wide, with it clear he is more suited to operating in a more central 10 role.

Kasey McAteer – 6

Looked bright at times, curling an effort just wide during the first half, but he is likely to be dropped once Facundo Buonanotte is back from suspension.

Jamie Vardy – 5

Was extremely isolated up top through much of the 90 minutes, unable to make any sort of meaningful impact.

Substitutes

Oliver Skipp – 5

Replaced former Tottenham Hotspur teammate Harry Winks early in the first half. Failed to have much of an impact for large periods.

Stephy Mavididi – 5

Fans called for him to start the game and he looked bright when he came on, unlucky not to get a late penalty.

Jordan Ayew – 6

Caused Chelsea a few problems and scored a late penalty.

Paston Daka – 3

Hardly touched the ball after replacing Vardy.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid – 5

Won a penalty to hand Leicester a late goal.
