Leicester City fans have a lot to say about Wout Faes vs Chelsea, they’re baffled by one thing

Leicester City and Chelsea met at the King Power Stadium in a 12:30pm Premier League kick-off on Saturday.

It is fair to say the mood at the King Power Stadium was already pretty low before a ball had even been kicked against Chelsea.

With Abdul Fatawu injured and Facundo Buonanotte suspended, Steve Cooper was forced to deploy a weak attack against Enzo Maresca’s side.

Kasey McAteer and Bilal El Khannouss came into the forward line to offer support to Jamie Vardy, with Leicester City fans bemused at Stephy Mavididi’s exclusion vs Chelsea, letting their opinions be known loud and clear on social media before the game got underway.

As has so often been the case for the Midlands outfit this season though, it was the Foxes’ backline that proved the major problem on Saturday.

Leicester City fans furious at Wout Faes vs Chelsea

Chelsea dominated possession from the get-go and it did not take them long to find an opener at the King Power.

Nicolas Jackon put the away outfit 1-0 up after just 15 minutes thanks to a lot of help from Wout Faes.

A ball was played over the top towards Jackson, who was battling with the Belgian centre-back for control.

However, Faes’ attempted clearance was comical, eventually gifting Chelsea the opener on the day.

Now, unsurprisingly, Leicester fans have taken to X/Twitter to express their frustration at Faes, with many baffled at how he is still playing in the Premier League.

One fan wrote: “Wout Faes is the worst player in the league,” with a second asking: “How is Wout Faes still in the league?”

Another Leicester supporter added: “What is Faes playing at, he literally can’t defend, let the ball bounce about three times, get Vestergaard on.”

A fourth fan sarcastically commented: “Wout Faes might just be the greatest player I’ve ever witnessed.”

“I can’t believe Wout Faes still plays Premier League football,” a fifth Foxes support stated.

Another Leicester fan added: “Faes is well and truly the worst centre-back in the Premier League, pure trash.”

A seventh fan then stated: “How is Wout Faes still kicking a football in the ‘best league in the world’.”

Leicester City defending could see Steve Cooper sacked

Gary Lineker was worried about Leicester’s defending back in August and his concerns have now been well and truly justified.

Before facing Chelsea, the Foxes had the joint-third defensive record in the top flight and also shipped five in one game versus Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.

Right-back James Justin has been poor for Leicester in 2024/25 and Faes’ inconsistent displays will give Cooper even more of a headache.

The Leicester boss is already under pressure heading into 2025 and if he cannot stop the Foxes leaking goals, it is hard to see the 46-year-old being kept around too much longer.
