Leicester City fans have seen it all in recent years and under many different managers. Let’s take a look at where the last five gaffers find themselves today.
This season has been as good as any Leicester fan could have hoped for.
Under new manager, Enzo Maresca, the Foxes have only lost one Championship game and have won the other ten. A record-breaking start that sees them occupy pole position in the league.
City fans are as happy as they possibly could be right now. This is a far cry from last season where relegation was suffered.
With that being said, let’s take a look at the last five managers to take charge at the King Power.
Dean Smith (2023)

The man who was given the tough task of trying to keep the Foxes in the Premier League. When he came in he found a side devoid of confidence, sitting in 19th.
The former Aston Villa and Norwich City boss had eight games to turn it around. Two wins, three draws and three losses saw relegation confirmed. Smith left the club following this, with Maresca his successor.
He currently finds himself out of work following his departure from the King Power.
Brendan Rodgers (2019-2023)

The man who brought an FA Cup to Leicester. In hindsight, sacking Rodgers may be one of the worst decisions the club has made in years.
He joined from Celtic and went on to manage 198 games, winning 96. He guided the club to two fifth-place finishes while also reaching a European semi-final.
The former Liverpool boss, took up the role with the club in 12th place and guided them to be a top-six regular. Last season he wasn’t backed and after a poor season, he was sacked.
Following his departure, and Ange Postecoglu’s move to Tottenham Hotspur, Rodgers returned to Celtic this summer.
Claude Puel (2017-2019)

Puel started off well, but by the end of his tenure, his football had become frustrating to watch.
In fairness to Puel, he took over with the club in a tough place. With that being said, he wasn’t the appointment the Foxes wanted. Gary Lineker tweeted “Claude Puel? Really?” at the time.
His style of football was slow and possession-based. This was completely different from football the club had played for many years.
He was sacked after a 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace much to the delight of many fans at the time.
The Frenchman hasn’t had a job since he was sacked by Saint Etienne in 2021.
Craig Shakespeare (2017)

The man who replaced a club legend, Craig Shakspeare was given a tough task but managed it well overall.
He was appointed following winning both his games as caretaker manager. This was his first job as a first-team manager, following eight years with the coaching staff.
In his first-ever manager stint, he managed a 42% win percentage and finished in 12th place in the league.
Ironically, his last job was with Dean Smith at Leicester. Shakespeare was named as assistant manager for the last eight games.
Claudio Ranieri (2015-2017)

The immortal Leicester City manager. Mr Ranieri, the man who guided the Foxes to the impossible.
In his first season, he won the Premier League. Unearthing gems like Ngolo Kante, while getting the best out of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez.
Despite some reservations from fans upon his appointment. Gary Lineker famously tweeted “Claudio Ranieri? Really?” It just goes to show the thoughts around him beforehand.
He was sacked much to the shock of the football world and has gone on to manage six clubs since.
Currently, he finds himself in Serie A with Cagliari. At current, his side are bottom of the league with just two points.
