Leicester look set to complete their third signing of the window, with Manchester City youngster Callum Doyle set to join on loan.

Leicester have moved quickly this summer, securing the signings of Harry Winks from Tottenham and Conor Coady of Wolves. The duo were Enzo Maresca’s first, giving him an abundance of experience.

It now appears the third signing is en route, with the first two likely being pivotal for Maresca’s plans. Winks particularly was seemingly the focal point of the side in the preseason defeat to Peterborough yesterday.

Coady was also seen leading the side’s defence vocally from the back organising his side and being the verbal press trigger, Maresca’s on field general.

So with two key players already brought in, what will the latest with the signing of Doyle?

Callum Doyle latest

Doyle is set for a move to Leicester, linking up with former Citizen coach Maresca. According to The Telegraph, he will undergo his medical at Leicester City on Wednesday ahead of a season-long loan move.

The 19-year-old is set to be put through his paces by the medical team at Seagrave today, before linking-up with his new teammates.

It is understood the move will be a straight loan, with no option to buy expected to be included. This despite Manchester City previously being interested in a permanent move, quoting Leicester £7million to £10m last week.

This will be Doyle’s third loan in a row, the move is imminent now, but the lack of buy-option will be disappointing.

Maresca will be glad to get his target though as the two know each other well. Doyle made 14 appearances under Maresca’s management of the City development squad in 2020-21.

He will likely now slot into defence next to Coady which will also be valuable experience for the youngster.
