Leicester City have a rich history of producing talented players from their academy.

Gary Lineker, Emile Heskey and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are only a few notable examples whilst the likes of Luke Thomas and Jakub Stolarczyk are currently flying that flag.

Leicester are currently in their golden era at youth level as they have a plethora of England youth internationals on the books.

Jeremy Monga is one of Europe’s hottest properties right now as the 15-year-old is being linked with Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Jake Evans and Louis Page are also making real noise for the under-21s, though, there is one talented teenager who’s currently further along than the aforementioned trio as he’s really impressing on loan in the Championship.

Local media hail Leicester City loanee Will Alves

Speaking to The Athletic, WalesOnline journalist Glen Williams heaped praise on Cardiff City’s Will Alves, who is on a six-month loan from Leicester.

“You’re always wary when a fanbase waxes lyrical about young prospects and often they fail to live up to the hype,” Williams explained.

“But the excitement from Leicester fans seems to be justified. He’s clearly a very confident and talented lad, with bags of potential.

“His speed and desire to run at people were perhaps expected, but his close control with the ball has been an aspect of his game which has impressed me. He has stood up to the physicality of Championship defenders well.

“It’s still early days in the context of his Cardiff career and his career as a whole, of course, but Leicester do seem to have a real talent on their hands.”

Alves will be ready to play first-team football at Leicester next season

Alves has been on the fringes of the Leicester first-team since making his debut as a 16-year-old back in January 2022.

A serious knee injury stunted his development somewhat but after what’s promising to be a productive loan spell in the second tier, it’s evident he’ll be a key figure for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side next season.

Alves could well be Bilal El Khannouss’ replacement if the Moroccan leaves in the summer – which appears likely if the club are relegated.
