Leicester City have had plenty of players begin their career with the Foxes.
From Gary Lineker to Emile Heskey and in the modern age, the likes of Andy King and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, the club can be proud of their record.
As recently as April 2025, Jeremy Monga became the second-youngest debutant in Premier League history.
These are all players that are known for starting their career with the Foxes, but there are some footballing icons that also began their footballing days in the East Midlands, but are known for their impact elsewhere.
Don Revie began his career at Leicester City

The name Don Revie is one associated to Leeds United more than anyone else.
Revie is a Leeds legend for his role as a manager more so than a player, winning the old First Division twice, an FA Cup, a League Cup, Charity Shield amongst others.
However, in his playing days, the striker opted against joining boyhood club Middlesbrough to sign for the Foxes in August 1944 who, despite initially thinking he wasn’t good enough, went on to become a regular.
| Season | Apps | Goals |
| 1946/47 | 38 | 7 |
| 1947/48 | 15 | 2 |
| 1948/49 | 44 | 20 |
| 1949/50 | 13 | 0 |
His best season in a Leicester shirt came during the 1948/49 season where he scored 20 times in 44 games across all competitions.
Eventually, after manager Johnny Duncan departed, Revie followed in 1950 to join Manchester City.
What did Don Revie die of?
After an illustrious career and certifying himself as a Leeds legend, Revie also spent time in charge of the England national team and even had a spell in the UAE.
Sadly, after choosing to retire from football in 1986, the former Leicester striker was planning to spend his time in Scotland but was then diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 1987.
He died at Murrayfield hospital, Edinburgh on 26 May 1989 aged 61 and his funeral was attended by some of football’s biggest figures.
Leeds also have a statue that pays tribute to their former manager and Leicester can take plenty of credit for guiding him to the legendary status he earned.
