The games are coming thick and fast for Leicester City over the festive period, with a tough test against Manchester City up next.

Leicester City lost 3-1 to Liverpool on December 26th, dealing their survival hopes a big blow.

After Wolverhampton Wanderers earned a shock win over Manchester United, the Foxes have dropped into the relegation zone ahead of the weekend’s action.

Leicester now face another really trick fixture at the King Power Stadium against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The Sky Blues have been far from their best this season but are still likely to dominate a Leicester side with the worst defensive record in the Premier League alongside Wolves (40 conceded).

As a result, Ruud van Nistelrooy will no doubt be desperate to welcome Jamie Vardy back into the starting lineup on Sunday.

Ruud van Nistelrooy provides Jamie Vardy injury update

Despite being 37, Vardy has once again been the Midlands outfit’s primary number nine this term.

The Englishman has six goals in 16 Premier League outings in 2024/25, as well as chipping in with three assists.

However, Van Nistelrooy provided a surprising Vardy injury update ahead of the defeat to Liverpool, with the captain going on to miss the clash.

Patson Daka was poor in Vardy’s absence and fans will no doubt be desperate to see the former England international return this weekend.

Now, speaking to BBC Sport after losing to Arne Slot’s men, Van Nistelrooy has provided a fresh Vardy injury update and it’s pretty good news.

He said: “I think Jamie had a light injury, he couldn’t be there today but looks ok. Hopefully, he can make it for Sunday.”

Mads Hermansen and Wout Faes injury updates ahead of Leicester City vs Manchester City

Vardy was not the only big name missing from the defeat in midweek, however, with Mads Hermansen still sidelined after suffering an injury against Newcastle United.

Jakub Stolarczyk impressed Van Nistelrooy when he made his Premier League debut against the Reds.

And it’s likely he will start between the sticks once more this weekend as in the same interview, the Leicester boss provided another update on Hermansen as well as Wout Faes.

He said: “Wout [Faes] is doubtful and Mads [Hermansen] I don’t think he will play on Sunday because I think he’s going to need a little bit more time to recover and be fully fit to come back and play.”
