Ruud van Nistelrooy has seen his future at Leicester City called into question ahead of the meeting with West Ham United.

Leicester City clash with West Ham in an 8pm Premier League kick-off on Thursday evening.

Should they lose, it seems very likely that relegation to the Championship is nailed on.

The Foxes were hammered by Brentford last time out and have now slumped to 10 defeats in 11 Premier League games.

Steve Cooper’s record of two wins from 12 in the competition is actually now better than Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has won just two in 13.

In turn, Leicester fans have begun to turn on Van Nistelrooy and questions over his future are being asked.

Ruud van Nistelrooy on quitting Leicester City

Sean Dyche has been discussed as a replacement for the Dutchman after he left Everton last month and has a track record of helping struggling teams.

Meanwhile, ahead of West Ham, Ruud held his pre-match press conference on Thursday and his future was brought up.

However, despite Van Nistelrooy walking out of a team in the past, his recent comments suggest he is, at least for now, committed to staying at Leicester, as per BBC Sport.

He said: “I know what contract I signed and it hasn’t been a contract for five months, it was two more seasons after this.

“I was aware when I arrived what the challenge was and how difficult it could be. I was aware and committed to the future.”

Ruud van Nistelrooy honest verdict on Leicester City

This is only the former striker’s second full-time job as manager of a senior team, the other of course being PSV Eindhoven.

Prior to taking charge of Leicester, he had a brief spell as Manchester United’s caretaker, which included picking up two wins over the Midlands outfit.

And when asked if this was the biggest challenge of his career to date, Van Nistelrooy gave an interesting response.

He said: “To go through all the challenges I’ve faced and compare them now…I called it a mountain to climb but life is about climbing mountains and mountains are there to be climbed.

“That challenge I take. We slip sometimes on the mountain but we get up and start again.”
