Ruud van Nistelrooy appeared to be disappointed by the prospect of returning to Old Trafford as his Leicester City side were drawn to face Manchester United away in the FA Cup.

It will be the first time Van Nistelrooy has gone back to the club where he established himself as a Premier League legend as an opposition manager.

The Foxes will head to Man United after beating Queens Park Rangers in the Third Round on Saturday.

Leicester fans were also annoyed by the FA Cup draw as this will be the third time that they make the trip to the North West in the same season and will have to play them again in the reverse league fixture.

Ruben Amorim is looking forward to seeing Van Nistelrooy again but it appears that the Dutchman isn’t enamoured by the tie.

Any manager wants to be given the best chance of going far in the domestic cups and Man United certainly provides a difficult obstacle to overcome,

United’s frailties are still evident and there’s every chance that the Foxes could claim just their second win at Old Trafford in over 20 years, but he admits he wanted a side from the lower leagues.

The Dutchman said: “I was hoping for a home game against a team in the league below us maybe. But the first team that got out was United and we were second.

“It’s going to be the third time for United v Leicester in three different competitions. It will be special to go there.”

When is Man United vs Leicester?

Leicester will play their FA Cup Fourth Round fixture on the weekend of 8 February 2025.

As the TV broadcasters have yet to decide which games will be aired live, there is a chance that the date could be moved.

The Foxes won’t have to worry about any Premier League games being rescheduled either as no league fixtures were pencilled in for that weekend.

Additionally, if the game ends in a draw after 90 minutes they will go straight to extra time after replays were scrapped.
