It’s been a disaster four months since Ruud van Nistelrooy was appointed Leicester City manager.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Newcastle United on Monday evening, leaving them completely resigned to relegation.
Leicester are on a run of eight home defeats without scoring, which is a new record across England’s top four divisions.
That’s piled the pressure on Van Nistelrooy, who didn’t give the most convincing response when asked about his future at the King Power Stadium.
“The most important thing is the club and these players, that’s what I would say for now,” the Leicester boss said.
The Dutchman was also questioned about Harry Winks, who has been expelled from the squad after a disagreement.

Ruud van Nistelrooy replies to Harry Winks question
Harry Winks has been banished from the Leicester squad due to a disagreement over his 100-mile commute to training.
Van Nistelrooy ordered Winks to stay at least one night per week at Leicester’s Seagrave training ground, but Winks refused.
The Foxes midfielder recently posted a picture of his newborn baby on Instagram, so it’s evident why he’s taken that stance.
When asked about the Winks saga last night, Van Nistelrooy tried to avoid the topic.
“It’s not the moment to speak about individuals. We have other things to address, so I think it’s not correct to speak about individuals at the moment.”
Pushed for an answer on whether Winks will be considered in the remaining seven games, he added: “As I said, it’s not the moment to speak about individuals.”
Winks will be crucial next season
It seems almost inevitable that Van Nistelrooy will leave Leicester before the end of the season, so Winks could yet feature under a new manager.
The former England international will be crucial in City’s promotion campaign next term, as he was under Enzo Maresca.
Winks established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Championship in Maresca’s side and will likely suit the next manager’s style – given the profile of coach Leicester are looking at.
Leicester have been linked with Russell Martin and Liam Rosenior over the last week, with the board keen to appoint a Maresca-esque manager.
The possession-based approach is something City are keen to revert too after Steve Cooper and Van Nistelrooy’s failed methods.
