Spurs trio injury doubts ahead of Leicester City – Ruud van Nistelrooy must capitalise on obvious area of weakness

Very few expect Leicester City to remain in the Premier League. The Foxes have won just three games all season.

Victims of their own mistakes, Leicester City have one of the worst defences in the country. The side sits 19th in the table, two points from safety, because of it.

On a seven-game losing streak, Ruud van Nistelrooy is under huge pressure to pick up points.

And although Sunday’s away fixture against Spurs isn’t the matchup the Dutchman would’ve picked given the choice, he has been handed a potential boost after it was revealed three of Ange Postecoglou’s most important players are injury doubts.

Spurs trio injury doubts for Leicester City clash

Equally as desperate for three points, Spurs, who sit 15th in the table, will be looking to cash in on Leicester City’s struggles.

However, although Spurs will be the tie’s overwhelming favourites, Van Nistelrooy has been handed a potential boost after it was revealed Djed Spence, and midfielders Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr, are all injury doubts.

Centre-back Cristian Romero is certain not to feature.

The Argentine has recently begun first-team training following injury but isn’t fit enough to start yet.

Ruud van Nistelrooy knows area to exploit

Should Bissouma and Sarr fail to start for Spurs, Van Nistelrooy must pack his midfield and look to win the battle in the middle of the pitch.

Bissouma and Sarr are crucial in Postecoglou’s industrious system — without them, Spurs will struggle, so Leicester City must capitalise by flooding the midfield area and using their physicality.

The under pressure Van Nistelrooy will never get a chance as good as this one to pick up three valuable away points — he must not waste it.

Should the Foxes pull off an upset, depending on other results, they could move out of the relegation zone for the first time since mid-December.
