Tottenham Hotspur vs Leicester City always seems to be a game that has a lot riding on it.

Whether that be a Premier League title clash or one where both are fighting for their lives at opposite ends of the table, it’s never dull.

This weekend’s fixture could be huge for both managers too. Ange Postecoglou received a vote of confidence from Spurs whilst the majority of Leicester fans want Ruud van Nistelrooy to stay.

Defeat for the Foxes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could match an unwanted 24-year record of eight successive losses.

Leicester know a thing or two about defeats against Tottenham and one particular loss back in 2022 still gives some fans nightmare.

Spurs score two stoppage times in incredible comeback win against Leicester

Picture the scene: it’s the 95th minute of 96 minutes, Leicester just need to hold onto the ball for a few more seconds and they’ll win the game.

Easy enough, right? Well, Not in Leicester’s world…

Patson Daka had give the Foxes the lead before former Leicester loanee Harry Kane equalised following a defence-splitting pass from current Blues star Harry Winks.

James Maddison, now of Spurs, then restored the home side’s advantage and looked set home to take a valuable three points.

That’s what it looked like until second-half substitute Steven Bergwijn grabbed the equaliser and looked to have nicked a point.

A draw wasn’t enough for Spurs though, who attacked immediately from kick off and just 80 seconds later Bergwijn rounded Kasper Schmeichel and scored the winner.

It was the latest comeback win from a side in Premier League history and one that left everybody inside the King Power Stadium stunned.

Leicester’s decline started after Spurs defeat

If there was ever a series of events within a game that reflected the way it has gone for Leicester these past few years, it might be that fateful night on 19 January 2022.

The rest of that season saw the Foxes slip to midtable, although they did enjoy a run to the semi-finals of the UEFA Conference League before bowing out to Roma.

One season later it would get much worse as the club’s 10-year stay in the top flight and a season in the Championship awaited.

A title did follow and an immediate return to the top flight by doing so, but, Leicester are 19th in the table and struggling.

PSR fears hang over the Foxes despite avoiding a charge in January. They already have nightmares about one game and Leicester fans won’t want any more.
