The Premier League has officially confirmed when the 2025 summer transfer window will open and close.

Leicester City were part of the vote where Premier League clubs decided when the window would close.

Some sporting directors had called for the transfer window to shut before the start of the season so that managers could have their squad in place and ready, but there were fears that other leagues around the world would have an advantage if they didn’t follow suit.

Now, in an official statement, the league’s governing body have confirmed the exact dates.

When does the transfer window open?

This year’s summer transfer window will have a slightly different start date for top flight clubs.

In a statement on the Premier League website, it was confirmed that the window would officially open on Sunday 1 June – Tuesday 10 June as a way of allowing clubs competing in the Club World Cup to register extra players.

It will then close for a short period before reopening again on Monday 16 June, with most sides likely to begin their business in July once those leaving on free transfers have officially run down their contracts and the fixtures for the 25/26 campaign have been released

When is transfer deadline day?

Transfer deadline day will be on Monday 1 September 2025 and close at the usual time of 11:00PM, meaning that there is no change and that the window will remain open in the first few weeks of the Premier League season.

When will the EFL’s transfer window open and close?

Of course, there is every chance that Leicester could be playing Championship football next season if they are relegated from the top flight.

As it stands, there has been no official confirmation on when the transfer window will open and close for Football League clubs but they will almost certainly follow the same path as the Premier League.
