Leicester City have lost seven straight games on the bounce without scoring in the Premier League.

Leicester suffered a 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on the weekend, which left them nine points adrift of 17th-placed Wolves.

Relegation is now a near certainty as the Foxes stare down the barrel of Championship football next season.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has been heavily criticized by Leicester fans in recent weeks and his future at the club is uncertain.

If Van Nistelrooy does leave, here are the three managers the Foxes could consider to replace the Dutchman.

Lee Carsley

According to TBR Football, Leicester considered Lee Carsley before they decided to appoint Van Nistelrooy in November.

Carsley had just come off the back of a pretty impressive reign as England’s interim head coach and City chiefs were clearly impressed.

They could reignite their interest in him this summer, as he’s got a great track record of developing young players.

City have a number of talented teenagers on their books and will have to use the academy next season, especially if the EFL impose another transfer embargo.

Danny Rohl

Danny Rohl is widely considered one of the best managers in the Championship after the job he’s done at Sheffield Wednesday.

Rohl completed a remarkable great escape last season and has Wednesday in a top-six chase this term, despite not being backed by the owner.

However, the German head coach is likely to be an expensive recruit due to his release clause, which is around £5m.

Richie Wellens

Richie Wellens enjoyed a successful four-year playing career at Leicester and was a real fan favourite.

Since hanging up the boots, Wellens has impressed as a manager in the EFL and now has Leyton Orient in with a chance of promotion to the Championship.

The Manchester-born boss knows City inside and out would bring an attractive brand of football to the King Power Stadium.
