Victor Kristiansen full of praise for ‘excellent’ Leicester City ace’s start to season

Leicester City fans can get excited about the next few fixtures after Steve Cooper oversaw a first Premier League win of the season against AFC Bournemouth.

Arguably, the international break has come at a bad time for Leicester City as they look to build momentum after a first three points of the season.

However, it does give Steve Cooper plenty of time to prepare for a run of three crucial league fixtures against Southampton, Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town.

One player who will be key in that run is attacking midfielder Facundo Buonanott; the on-loan man who scored the only goal of the game in the 1-0 win over Bournemouth.

Teammate Victor Kristiansen spent last season on loan at Bologna and has been speaking about Buonanotte’s start to life on loan at Leicester.

Victor Kristiansen on Leicester City loanee Facundo Buonanotte

Kristiansen was not fancied by Enzo Maresca last season but enjoyed a fruitful spell on loan in Italy.

Things can change quickly in football and Kristiansen has started every Premier League match since Cooper took over as manager.

It seems unlikely a permanent deal is in the pipeline for Buonanotte as Brighton rate the 19-year-old very highly and Kristiansen has spoken on his temporary teammate’s situation, as well as praising Buonanotte.

Kristiansen said: “He’s come here to show his talent, so it was great to see him score a really good goal and play an excellent match.

“It’s a difficult situation when you go out to a club on loan. It’s almost like a one-year exam to show how good you are, and that makes it challenging.

“It’s also difficult for the club to prioritise a loan player, but Facundo has been really good so far. He’s a confident guy and a very calm character. We speak a little bit of Italian together, so that’s nice.”

Buonanotte has scored twice and provided two assists in just four Premier League starts so far at Leicester and has impressed with his creativity and dribbling qualities.

That has gained the attention of Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni who called Buonanotte up to the senior side this international break.

Argentina made the decision to train in Florida ahead of their away game against Venezuela on Thursday night which looks somewhat unwise given the situation regarding Hurricane Milton.

Argentina’s second fixture of the break is against Bolivia at 1am BST on Wednesday 16th so Cooper will be very concerned about whether Buonanotte will return in time to start against Southampton on the Saturday.
