It’s two years to the day that Brendan Rodgers was sacked by Leicester City after a successful four years at the King Power Stadium.
Rodgers cemented his place in Leicester City history when his side beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final in 2021 thanks to a Youri Tielemans thunderbolt.
But the years that followed were never easy for the 52-year-old, who saw his side plummet down the Premier League table.
In the 2022/23 campaign, Leicester were battling against relegation and following a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in April 2023, Rodgers was sacked with the Foxes in 18th position and one point adrift of safety.
Some felt the decision to let him go was hasty, especially as Dean Smith was the man to replace him, and what he said after being dismissed now looks to be in total ruins.

What Brendan Rodgers predicted after being sacked by Leicester City
Rodgers managed 204 games in charge of the Foxes and averaged 1.59 points per game. Remarkably, he led Leicester to four top-half finishes, including two campaigns where they finished fifth.
So, perhaps he could feel hard done by being dismissed after gaining a lot of credit in the bank but he left the club with grace and made a prediction that hasn’t come true.
“I am obviously disappointed to depart so close to the end of the season and had every confidence that we would have delivered the results needed to preserve the club’s Premier League status,” Rodgers said in April 2023.
“I would like to wish everybody at the club the very best of luck as they seek to continue to deliver on this objective. There is a strong infrastructure and environment in place that puts the club on a strong footing to move forward – a world-class training facility, a passionate and unswerving fan base, a group of great players full of ability and character, and special owners.”
The Northern Irish boss, who now manages Celtic, predicted Leicester to move forward as a club but the apathy between the fanbase and owners has only grown bigger since he left.

Leicester City on verge of second relegation in two years
Leicester were relegated in 2023, not as a direct result of sacking Rodgers, but due to awful recruitment and decision-making in the previous transfer windows.
Luckily, the Foxes bounced straight back into the Premier League under Enzo Maresca, and now that hard work is being unravelled.

City are 12 points adrift of safety following a run of 13 losses in 14 league matches under Ruud van Nistelrooy, and whilst that is abysmal, blame doesn’t entirely fall at the Dutchman.
Leicester fans have called for Jon Rudkin to be sacked, as he’s been responsible for the terrible recruitment, while the owners have also ravaged the club with awful spending.
Supporters are fed up with how the club is being run and they feel that another campaign in the Championship demonstrates how far they’ve fallen.
From challenging in Europe to a second relegation in three years on the cards, it’s been an incredibly sad to witness Leicester’s decline.
