Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed why midfielder Wilfred Ndidi missed the 1-0 victory over Sunderland last night.
The 26-year-old wasn’t included in the starting eleven or named on the substitute bench, despite featuring in every game so far this season.
Ndidi has been a key performer for the Foxes in the Championship, with his performances helping the club sit 14 points clear of third place after just 13 league games.
However, boss Maresca confirmed that Ndidi didn’t miss last night’s victory through injury – with the Nigerian in contention to return this weekend.

Maresca on Ndidi’s absence
Speaking to Leicester Mercury after the win, boss Maresca confirmed that the midfielder wasn’t injured, but he felt he needed a rest after his long run of games for club and country.
“With Wilf, it’s tiredness, something a little bit more than tiredness, so he needs some days, and we don’t want to take risks for them.
“Wilf could play (on Saturday), we’ll see.”
Hopeful for a quick return for Ndidi
Although the Foxes claimed a well-earned three points at the King Power last night, Maresca will be hoping that the 26-year-old can return to action at the weekend.
With Ndidi, the Italian boss has produced a settled midfield trio of Harry Winks and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – but the Nigerian’s absence gave Cesare Casadei a rare start after his loan move from Chelsea.
The Foxes travel to London on Saturday to face a QPR side who are in a desperate run of form and looking for their first league win in nine outings.
