Leicester City loanee Yunus Akgun scored a superb goal in Turkey’s 4-0 qualification victory against Latvia on Sunday.

In his 76 minutes on the pitch, he made three dribbles, with three passes into the final third as his nation moved one step closer to qualifying for EURO 2024.

It may seem like a goal of little importance, but it could be a crucial goal in terms of his Foxes career.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a decent start to life at the King Power Stadium, but his latest display could give him the confidence to burst into life at the club.

A goal to kickstart his Leicester City career

Although Akgun has produced positive displays against the likes of Blackburn Rovers and Norwich City, the Foxes fanbase are yet to see his quality on a regular basis.

He was always going to take time to settle into a new country and a new league, but his latest goal for his nation might be the push he needed to set the Championship alight.

He will face competition to become a consistent starter for the club after the break, with the likes of Stephy Mavididi and rumoured future Ireland international Kasey McAteer ready to carry on where they left off.

The best of Akgun is yet to come

From his first few outings in a Leicester shirt, it is clear to see that the 23-year-old possesses a lot of qualities that are of use to Enzo Maresca.

His raw pace gives the Italian options in wide areas, but with his technical ability, he’s also able to play slightly deeper and create opportunities centrally.

Hopefully, Akgun can build on his positive international break and become a regular starter for the Foxes going forward this season.
