Leicester City welcome Arsenal to the King Power Stadium for a Premier League meeting on Saturday.

There is a lot at stake for both sides going into the match but for very different reasons.

Arsenal really can’t afford to drop any points if they wish to try and keep pace with Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

Leicester City, meanwhile, are in danger of suffering a swift return to the Championship and could end the game week five points from safety.

Arsenal are predicted to beat Leicester, which is not surprising given the two team’s league positions and the fact the Gunners have done so in their last five meetings.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side have been greatly weakened by injury this term and an upset could still be on the cards, especially if one of the Gunners’ former players steps up for Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Leicester City winger Stephy Mavididi can come back to haunt Arsenal

The man in question is Stephy Mavididi, who joined Leicester in July 2023 from French outfit Montpellier.

Before spells in France and Italy, however, the winger actually began his playing career in England on the books of Southend United before being signed to Arsenal’s academy in 2011.

The now 26-year-old scored 21 goals and provided four assists in 41 matches for the Gunners’ U21 team.

However, Mavididi never managed to break into the senior set-up and was sold to Juventus in 2018 for a fee Transfermarkt reported to be €1.50m (around £1.25m)

After arriving at Leicester, journalist James Benge dubbed the forward ‘Henry-esque’ for a finish he produced against Birmingham City.

Stephy Mavididi Leicester City stats

The Derby-born ace enjoyed a prolific debut campaign in the Midlands, scoring 12 and assisting six as Leicester dominated the Championship.

His goal return has reduced slightly in 2024/25 but Mavididi has still managed to find the back of the net on five occasions in all competitions so far.

The forward has been in and out of the starting lineup this term but his pace and quick feet could be exactly what Leicester need to cause a weakened Arsenal side problems.

Ben White is a doubt for the clash, meaning the North London outfit will likely deploy Jurrien Timber at right-back and his form this season has been pretty mixed.
