I saw a Leicester City star’s key weakness exposed vs Nottingham Forest

Steve Cooper has now learned of one Leicester City star’s weakness after the defeat vs Nottingham Forest.

Leicester City lost out against Nottingham Forest, with Chris Wood getting the better of Steve Cooper’s side in the second half.

The Foxes notably put in a solid performance in the first half, which saw Jamie Vardy become the fourth oldest player in Premier League history to score in back-to-back games, however the underlying issues all sprung from the second half performance.

Defensively, there were some poor showings from the Foxes, particularly from Wout Faes, who was at fault for Nottingham Forest’s third as he set up Wood to dink it over Mads Hermansen in-between the sticks for Cooper’s side.

On the attacking front, Facundo Buonanotte put in a solid appearance and on many occasions he proved to be the Foxes’ best output going forward, however the second half particularly uncovered one key issue in the winger’s game.

Leicester City star Facundo Buonanotte’s weakness uncovered in Nottingham Forest defeat

Buonanotte has been one of Leicester’s shining lights up until this early stage of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, and there is no doubt that without him, Cooper’s side would likely be nestled within the relegation spots.

He proved to be pivotal in the wins against Bournemouth and Southampton, however in the defeat Nottingham Forest he looked to somewhat ‘let frustration get the better of him in the second period’, per LeicestershireLive.

It was somewhat instrumental in Leicester City’s downfall against Nottingham Forest as he didn’t quite prove to be as effective on the ball in the latter stages of the game.

Facundo Buonanotte frustrations come from key Leicester City issue

It is no surprise to see the game get the better of Buonanotte, particularly on this occasion, with it being the first time in four games that he was unable to notch a goal or assist.

The fact that he is inexperienced means that the 19-year-old was more likely to get frustrated at things not quite going his way on this occasion, and this could likely continue to be a key issue for Cooper and his side if he again looks to be a different player when the Foxes aren’t quite firing on all four cylinders.

Whilst Leicester City do have several attackers in particular with very little experience, with Stephy Mavididi and Abdul Fatawu sticking out as obvious fellow wingers, Vardy should be turned towards to help with the mental side of going down but not bowing out, and whilst Buonanotte didn’t quite give up on this occasion, it is never a great sight to see a player struggle in this scenario when they have brilliant talents.
